Kehne Ko Humsafar Hai Kehne Ko Humsafar Hai is a mature love story of Rohit Mehra and Ananya Sharma. But there's a catch, Rohit is married to Poonam for 20 years and has a family of his own. This puts him in a guilt cycle. Will he choose Ananya over Poonam? That is the question.
Storyline:
Rohit and Ananya have been dating each other for 3 years now. They are head over heels in love with each other. Everything is perfect except for the fact that Rohit is married to Poonam for 20 years. Rohit and Poonam have two daughters, Bani and Niki. Poonam is completely unaware of Rohit's extramarital affair. Hell breaks loose when the Mehra family comes across his affair. Rohit is made to choose between a 20-year-old marriage which has nothing left and a 3-year long relationship with Ananya that has helped him discover a new meaning to life.
The show deals with the family's struggle of acceptance of this new change in their lives and fear of societal backlash. We unravel what goes in the minds of the protagonists. Questions of morality and family values constantly haunt everyone. The story by veteran actress-director Neena Gupta isn't anything new. It is a cliché married man having an affair story. In this aspect, the makers haven't actually done much.
Screenplay:
The makers have clearly gotten the format wrong. A web-series is expected to explore given the extended time limit and freedom of length it offers. There are major issues in the screenplay. The concepts of age and time aren't properly used. The show is shallow in its thought process. They don't venture into any character's mind instead of blandly present the story. The events are presented in a haphazard manner. It becomes worse with time. The length of the show is tiring and long for the amount of story they have. At 15 episodes each of at least 20 minutes, the show is definitely is exhausting binge watch. There's a clear need to rethink the screenplay strategy and this pans out to be the most underdone aspect of the show.
Casting:
Balaji Telefilms has consistently followed the policies of repeating the actors who play minor roles. Ronit Roy, Mona Singh and Gurdeep (as Rohit, Ananya and Poonam) have been in the business for a long time now and deliver impeccable performances. The side actors are average in their performances. The casting director needs to consider the character's and actor's age before casting. In this aspect, the makers do an average job.
Verdict: There is a dilemma in the mind of the viewers so as to whom to vouch for. The viewers aren't able to sympathise with none of the characters. The show's length and poor screenplay ruin the overall cinematic experience. With experienced lead actors like these, the show is underwhelming and disappointing.
